Lucy Toogood: Sherborne’s first policewoman?

Lucia (the Latinised version of Lucy) Toogood is named in the 1547 Sherborne Court Rolls as a ‘tithingman’ – a parish officer elected to preserve good order. Was she Sherborne’s first policewoman?!
